MAC Announces New Council Leadership For 2015-16

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE ANNOUNCES NEW COUNCIL LEADERSHIP
Cleveland, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the new leadership for the various Councils for the upcoming 2015-16 academic year.
Western Michigan President, Dr. John Dunn has been selected to a second term as Chair of the Council of Presidents. Dunn has served as the eighth president of Western Michigan since July 1, 2007. Dunn served as interim chancellor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and provost and vice chancellor at Southern Illinois.
An educator for more than 30 years, Dunn was dean of the University of Utah's College of Health from 1995 to 2002 before moving to Southern Illinois. Before that, he was at Oregon State University for 20 years, last serving as associate provost. His earlier positions at Oregon State included assistant dean of Health and Human Performance, chair of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science and director of the university's Special Physical and Motor Fitness Clinic.
Internationally known for his research and writing about the long-term health of people with disabilities, Dunn is the author of more than 50 professional papers and book chapters. He is a past president of the Research Consortium of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; past editor of Quest, a professional publication for kinesiology scholars; and president of the American Academy of Kinesiology and Physical Education.
Central Michigan Director of Athletics, David Heeke will continue to serve as Chair of the Council of Director of Athletics. Heeke has served as Director of Athletics at Central Michigan since 2006. Heeke is Chair of the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee and previously served on the Division I Football Issues Committee, serving as chair of the football committee in 2012-13. Heeke was appointed to the Division I Athletic Director Advisory Group, one of 11 Division I athletic director's nationwide to be selected for the appointment.
Ball State Senior Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator, Dr. Karin Lee has been selected as Chair of the Council of Senior Administrators. Lee has served Ball State Athletics since 2007 and received her Bachelor's Degree from UNC Greensboro in 1992 and her Master's from North Carolina in 1997. Prior to joining Ball State, Lee spent 11 years at Alabama as Assistant Athletic Director for Life Skills and Community Outreach.
Northern Illinois Faculty Athletics Representative, Matt Streb will continue to serve as Chair of the Faculty Athletics Representatives. Streb is a Professor in and Chair of the Department of Political Science and teaches courses on political parties, political behavior, public opinion, and Congress. Streb received his Ph.D. in 2000 from Indiana University.
Eastern Michigan Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration, Erin Kido has been selected to serve as Chair of the Council of Committee on Infractions. Kido is in her first year with the Eastern Michigan athletic department. Kido spent seven-years at Xavier Athletics where she most recently served as the Associate Athletics Director and Senior Woman Administrator.
The MAC recently concluded its Spring Meetings with the Council of Presidents, Council of Directors of Athletics, Council of Senior Administrators, Council of Faculty Athletics Representatives and the MAC Leaders of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee all in attendance at the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel.
MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE
Founded in 1946, the Mid-American Conference is an NCAA Division I, 12-member conference that sponsors 23 championships and is one of 10 members of the Football Bowl Subdivison (FBS). With total enrollment of nearly 300,000 students, the league represents institutions of higher learning in five states - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and Ohio.
Current MAC schools that hold full membership and the year they joined are -- East Division: University of Akron (1992), Bowling Green State University (1952), University at Buffalo (1998), Kent State University (1951), Miami University (1947), Ohio University (1946). West Division: Ball State University (1973), Central Michigan University (1971), Eastern Michigan University (1971), Northern Illinois University (1975-86, rejoined in 1997), University of Toledo (1950), Western Michigan University (1947). The conference office is based in Cleveland, Ohio.
