Women's track and field wraps up the Toledo Invitational

TOLEDO, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team finished up its final competition leading up to the Mid-American Conference Championships, competing at the Toledo Invitational, May 8.
Eastern saw three victories during the meet, with one win coming on the field while the remaining pair came by way of the track. On the field, Ellie Braidic (Pandora, Ohio-Pandora-Gilboa) earned a win in the pole vault with a jump of 3.85 meters/12 feet 7.50-inches. On the track, Danielle Bentzley (Birmingham, Mich.-Seaholm) claimed a victory in the 5000m in 18:29.40, and the lineup of Jasmine Jones (Greensburg, Pa.-Hempfield Area), Aaliyah McKinney (South Bend, Ind.-John Adams), Morgan Yeadon (Indianapolis, Ind.-Pike), and Danielle Clark (Paramaribo, Suriname-Ewald P. Meyer Lyceum) clocked a 46.46 in the 4x100m relay to finish more than two seconds ahead of MAC foe and host Toledo for with win. Jones also competed in the 100m dash, finishing third after crossing the line in a personal-best 12.17 seconds.
In the 400m, the pair of Agata Klimovich (Minsk, Belarus-Minsk School of Olympic Reserve) and Iesha Hardiman (Santa Clara, Calif.-Adrian Wilcox) finished third and fourth. Klimovich paced the pair in 57.49 seconds while Hardiman was not far behind in 57.58 seconds. The Eagles saw a large group run in the 800m run, led by Taylor Knoll (Warren, Mich.-Mott (Lansing CC)) in 2:10.24 for fourth. Running her collegiate debut in the event was Rebekah Branham (Circleville, Ohio-Circleville), who claimed 12th in 2:15.69.
In the hurdles, Tifani Byrd (Toms River, N.J.-Toms River North) finished fifth in the 100m hurdles in 14.64 seconds, followed by Maya Carter (Racine, Wis.-Case) in 15.19 seconds. Carter was the lead Eagle in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.59, followed by Rebecca Quaintance (Walled Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake North) in 1:07.44 for ninth.
Back on the field, Janina Pollatz (Grandview, Mich.-Grand Rapids Christian) put on a career-best performance in the long jump, while Kristina Coyne (Pittsburgh, Pa.-Chartiers Valley) notched a personal-best mark in the triple jump. Pollatz tacked nearly a foot on to her previous best mark, finishing third with a leap of 5.77 meters/18 feet 11.25-inches. Coyne also added on to her mark, as she bounded 11.28 meters/37 feet 0.25-inches to place fifth.
In the throws, Adrienne Waisner (Napoleon, Ohio-Napoleon) paced the Green and White with a throw of 50.45 meters/165 feet 6.50-inches for the second 50-meter throw of her career, taking eighth in the event. Megan Pendleton (Lindsey, Ohio-Woodmore) recorded a personal best with a launch of 49.35 meters/161 feet 11.25-inches to take 11th, and Reagan Briggs (Bloomdale, Ohio-Elmwood) rounded out the trio with a throw of 46.15 meters/151 feet 5.25-inches for 18th.
The final event saw Sarah Chauchard (Montpellier, France-University of Montpellier) lead the Eagles after finishing fifth with a throw of 38.71 meters/127 feet 0.25-inches while Natalie Uy (Kettering, Ohio-Fairmont) had a career-best throw of 32.06 meters/105 feet 2.50-inches for ninth and Coyne was not far behind, taking 10th with a mark of 31.90 meters/104 feet 8.25-inches.
The culmination of the 2015 outdoor season is quickly approaching, as the Eagles will head to Muncie, Ind. next weekend for the 2015 Outdoor MAC Championships. Competition will kick off Thursday, May 14 and will run through Saturday, May 16.
