Creear joins tight end Tyreese Russell and quarterback Rob Bolden as Eagles in NFL camps

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University football's Willie Creear (Seattle, Wash.-Lindbergh-Butte JC) has been invited to the New York Giants rookie mini-camp this weekend.  The mini-camp begins Thursday, May 7.

The Seattle, Wash. native becomes the third EMU player to receive an invitation to a mini-camp this spring. He joins tight end Tyreese Russell (Chicago, Ill.-Walther Lutheran) and quarterback Rob Bolden (Orchard Lake, Mich.-Orchard Lake St. Mary's-Penn State-Louisiana State) who were each contacted by the Detroit Lions.

Creear started every game since arriving on the Ypsilanti campus in 2013. Following his transfer from Butte Junior College, he recorded 112 tackles in his two-year career as an Eagle, while also breaking up 14 passes. Creear also had a knack for making game-changing plays with two interceptions, two fumble recoveries and a blocked field goal to his credit.

Most notably this offseason, Creear turned in a vertical jump of 47 inches at the regional combine in Denver, Colo.. That broke the all-time record of 45 inches at the regular Scouting Combine, set in 2009 by Ohio State cornerback Donald Washington and equaled this year by Georgia receiver Chris Conley.
