The Eagles will have its first two conference matches on the road this weekend

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team will begin Mid-American Conference play this weekend when it travels to the University of Akron, March 20, and the University at Buffalo, March 22.

EMU and Akron have seen the court versus each other in 28 matches. The Green and White has been dominant over the Zips, commanding a 23-5 edge all-time. The Eagles dispatched UA with ease last year in Akron, March 22. After sweeping the doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, the Green and White won 5-of-6 singles matches to come away with a 6-1 decision. The match with the Zips is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon inside La Tuchie Tennis Center.

The Eagles have met the Bulls on 15 separate occasions and hold a 10-5 edge in the all-time series. Last season, the Green and White traveled to UB, March 21. Eastern wound up on the right side of a 4-3 decision at the UB Tennis Center. After dropping the doubles point, the Eagles took the top three singles spots but dropped No. 4 and 5, leaving it to Eastern's Zsofia Biro in the No. 6 slot. Biro took Marta Soyanaova to a third set before eeking out a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 victory, leading the Eagles to a 2-0 start to the 2014 regular season. Sunday's match with the Bulls is slated for 1 p.m. at the UB Tennis Center.
