Eagles Knock Out Five Events at OSU Winter Invite

COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's women's swimming team completed its first day of the Ohio State Winter Invitational, Feb. 14, posting numerous personal records throughout the course of the day.
The highest finish came from Clarice Daniel (Belcamp, Md.-Homeschool), who took runner-up in the 400 IM in 4:26.76. In addition to the time being a three-second improvement on her personal best for the junior, Daniel's mark is the fifth-fastest in EMU program history.
In the freestyle events, Allison Murslack (Gibsonia, Pa.-Pine-Richland) took third in a 5:02.37, but recorded her career best in the prelims in 5:01.55. Murslack was followed closely by Rosalie Yockey (DeWitt, Mich.-DeWitt), placing fourth in 5:04.32. Hannah Newell (Ames, Iowa-Ames) led the way for the Eagles in the 100 free, finishing sixth in 53.11 with a personal best of 52.74 seconds coming in the prelims. Newell was trailed by Abby Saddler (Chanhassen, Minn.-Minnetonka) in 53.18 seconds for seventh, while Pauline Vigneron (Mouscron, Belgium-College Ste. Marie) clocked in at 55.88.
Rounding out the day was Betsy Trace (Upper Arlington, Ohio-Upper Arlington) in the 100 back and fly races. Trace placed eighth in the 100 fly in a career-best 57.93 seconds, while she took 13th in the 100 back after recording her collegiate record in the prelims at 59.91 seconds.
Eastern will return to the water tomorrow, Feb. 15, with preliminary rounds beginning at 11 a.m. The finals will follow at 4 p.m., and live results can be found through OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
