The Eagles made an early exit following a 3-2 decision in round one of the MAC Tournament

ATHENS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) -- Following a pair of victories to grab the No. 8 seed in the 2015 Mid-American Conference Volleyball Tournament during the final weekend of the regular season, the Eastern Michigan Volleyball team dropped a five set match in the first round to Western Michigan University, ending the 2015 campaign for the Eagles (14-16, 6-10 MAC).

Devon Murray (Shelby, Ohio-Shelby) led the Green and White with a career-high 20 kills, while Katie Krasowski (Oak Lawn, Ill.-Marist) and Stacey Perinar (Channahon, Ill.-Minooka Community) added 17 and 16, respectively. Jordan Smith (Solon, Iowa-Solon) contributed 10 kills, while Mallory Rajewski (Midland, Mich.-Midland) posted 47 assists for EMU. Defensively, the Eagles saw Corynne Smith (Norwalk, Ohio-St. Paul) notched 25 digs, while Dori Harrison (Euclid, Ohio-Beaumont School (South Florida)) and Rajewski added 22 and 21, respectively.

Set one saw the Eagles struggle offensively, hitting just .041, while the Broncos notched a .385 attack percentage. Krasowski and Murray each contributed four kills for the Eagles, but it was Sydney LeMay for the Broncos that led WMU with six kills. WMU's offense was too over powering however, keeping Eastern to just 15 points in the first frame.

Jordan Smith came out swining in set two, grabbing seven kills while Murray added six of her own on the way to EMU's 25-19 set win, evening up the match. Rajewski was stout, setting up 13 points for the Green and White, whill also picking up nine digs in the set.

Western responded in set three with a 27-25 set victory to take a 2-1 lead. Krasowski came out strong for EMU, posting five kills, while Murray added four. However, the Broncos rode Bailey Schnell's nine kills to a victory and a 2-1 advantage.

The Eagles evened things up in set four, topping the Broncos, 25-23. The Green and White hit at a .180 clip, while holding WMU to a .120 mark. Perinar and Murray led Eastern with six and five kills, respectively. Rajewski set up the offenses through the entire set, posting 15 assists in the single frame.

Western Michigan's offense was too much in the fifth and final set as the Broncos connected on 10 of their 24 swings, taking a 15-9 final in the last set of the match. Krasowski attempted to keep the Eagles afloat, grabbing four kills, but EMU couldn't keep up with the WMU offense, falling in the final set of the 2015 season.
