The Green and White knocked off the Cardinals in four Friday night

MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University's volleyball team broke its six-match losing streak Friday night, Nov. 13, when it knocked off Ball State University in four sets at Worthen Arena. The Eagles (13-5, 5-10 MAC) took the first two sets, 25-21, 25-12, before dropping set three, 20-25. With a 2-1 lead, the Green and White took down the Cardinals (13-16, 7-8 MAC) in set four, 26-24.

The Eagles were led by their middle blockers as Cassie Haut (Monroe, Mich.-St. Mary's Catholic Central) recorded 16 kills and Katie Krasowski (Oak Lawn, Ill.-Marist) added 14 kills. Stacey Perinar (Channahon, Ill.-Minooka Community) notched 10 kills, while Devon Murray (Shelby, Ohio-Shelby) grabbed eight of her own. Defensively, Corynne Smith (Norwalk, Ohio-St. Paul) led the way with 18 digs, while Perinar and Dori Harrison (Euclid, Ohio-Beaumont School (South Florida)) added 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Eagles held the Ball State offense down in set one, allowing just an .094 attack percentage, while EMU hit at a .167 mark in their 25-21 set victory. EMU used four kills from both Harrison and Krasowski in the opening frame to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Eastern's offense flourished in the second set, hitting .432, while keeping the Cardinals to an .033 attack percentage in the Green and White's 25-12 win. The Eagles helped themselves with four kills from both Haut and Krasowski. Smith grabbed five digs in the frame, while four other Eagles added at least two in the set.

Ball State came back swinging in the third set, hitting .314 as the Cardinals pulled within a set after a 25-20 win. The Green and White struggled offensively, hitting just .175, but Haut was the bright spot for EMU offensively. The freshman middle blocker hit at a .571 clip, notching four kills.

Despite hitting just .128, the Eagles were able to seal the match following a 26-24 set victory in the fourth set. Haut continued her strong play, grabbing another five kills in the final set, hitting .375. Harrison led the EMU defense with six digs, while Smith added five of her own.
