CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) is proud to announce that ESPN Cleveland and the MAC have reached a multi-year agreement to once again be the official radio home for the MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament.
MACtion will be on display as the 2016 MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament from March 9-12 at Quicken Loans Arena in downtown Cleveland. This new three-year radio broadcast agreement will showcase the 17th season of MAC basketball in Cleveland.
"The Mid-American Conference is pleased to extend its partnership with ESPN Cleveland," said MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher. "The entire ESPN Cleveland team works collaboratively with the Conference to ensure extensive promotion and radio play-by-play coverage to our membership fans, alumni and students."
ESPN Cleveland has been a long-time radio partner of the MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament, bringing fans the exciting action for four consecutive days of radio coverage.
"We're proud to continue covering the MACtion for the next three years on ESPN Cleveland's radio and digital assets," said Keith Williams, Good Karma Brands vice president and general manager of ESPN Cleveland. "The MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament has been a staple in the Cleveland community for years and we're excited to be a part of the tournament."
The local radio stations, ESPN 850 WKNR and ESPN 1540 KNR2 will be broadcasting all of the MAC Basketball Tournament games located at The Q Arena in downtown Cleveland.
"ESPN Cleveland is a great partner and we look forward to working with Keith Williams and his team as we help grow the MACtion brand," said Eric Buskirk, General Manager of IMG MAC Properties, which brokered the partnership.
The MAC and Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena is the second longest single-site collegiate basketball tournament in the nation. Last winter the MAC and Quicken Loans Arena announced a contract extension to keep the MAC Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament in Cleveland through the 2023 basketball season.
