Andrea Martinovska and Klara Supejova have entered the consolation round

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University tennis duo Andrea Martinovska and Klara Supejova became the first members of the Eagles' tennis program to enter the qualifying draw of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) All-American Tennis Championships since Vanessa Frankowski did so in 2007. Tuesday morning, Oct. 6, at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif. the doubles team squared off with Baylor University's Blair Shankle and Kiah Generette in the first round of the qualifying draw.

Eastern's top doubles squad fell in the match, 8-2, despite playing the Bears' duo tight through much of the match, the Eagles were unable to take more than a pair games, falling in multiple deuce point games. With the loss, the EMU duo will fall into the consolation round Wednesday, Oct. 7.

"The first four games of the match were critical," remarked EMU Head Tennis Coach Ryan Ray. "We lost a couple of deuce point games, which gave Baylor a 3-1 lead, then their big serving took over.  We look forward to playing Memphis tomorrow."

Martinovska and Supejova will take the court in the consolation round Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. PT from the Riviera Club.
