Three Eagles Remain in the Top 20 at the Golfweek Challenge

BURLINGTON, Iowa (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team is in fifth place following the second round of the sixth annual Golfweek Conference Challenge. The Eagles posted a 12-over-par 300 during the round which was delayed four hours due to rain. LSU leads the team race by 17 stokes, as the Tigers were the only team to shoot under par on the par 72, 7,229-yard Spirit Hollow Golf Club course.

Senior Brett White (Caledonia, Mich.-East Kentwood) registered a 75 in the second round to move into a tied for 13th-place at 146 (71-75). Sophomore Kyle Rodes (Plymouth, Mich.-Plymouth) sits just one stroke back at 147 (71-76) while senior Michael Blair (Ancaster, Ontario, Canada-Nelson-Pfeiffer) is tied for 18th place after back-to-back rounds of 74.

Junior Jared Multer (Battle Creek, Mich.-Lakeview-Grand Rapids C.C.) is tied for 35th at 152 (77-75) and freshman Nicholas Ross (Dundas, Ontario, Canada-Highland Secondary) posted a 155 (79-76) for 42nd.

LSU senior All-American Stewart Jolly continued to torch the field with a second round tally of 66. Jolly holds a seven-stroke edge (67-66=133) over teammate Eric Ricard heading into the final round.

The tournament features 12 teams from 12 different conferences, and receives national exposure through Golfweek Magazine and Golfweek.com. Florida State won the inaugural event in 2009 before the Hawkeyes claimed the title in 2010. Oklahoma secured last year's title, while Missouri held the top spot in 2012 and Arkansas in 2011.

Play at the Golfweek Conference Challenge concludes Tuesday, Sept. 16, with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT). Live stats are available at golfstat.com.
