YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The new "EMU Gray" FieldTurf replaced the old green surface at Rynearson Stadium, as "The Factory" opened its doors for the first time with an official unveiling Sunday, Aug. 3, hosted by the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics.

The event was the first chance for anyone to "clock in" at The Factory as members of the public were in attendance to enjoy the new turf surface. As fans mingled outside Gate A as appetizers were served, EMU Head Football Coach Chris Creighton and captains Pudge Cotton (Maywood, Ill.-Walther Lutheran), Lincoln Hansen (Omaha, Neb.-Millard North) and Pat O'Connor (Chicago, Ill.-Saint Rita) elevated above the gate on a mechanical lift and the four welcomed the crowd into The Factory. Following the reveal, fans were served a lunchbox dinner and were able to bid on silent auction items. Then, the fans were welcomed to take the field and walk on a gray turf football field.

From the announcement on June 19 to the official unveiling on Aug. 3, the construction of The Factory took 45 days to complete. Be sure to follow EMUEagles.com tomorrow, Aug, 4, for more in-depth recap of the entire field construction process.

Everyone can catch the Eagles kick off the 2014 season for the first game on the new "EMU Gray" FieldTurf inside Rynearson Stadium against Morgan State, Aug. 30. Single game and season tickets are now on sale online at EMUEagles.com, by calling 734.487.2282 or by visiting the EMU Ticket Office daily between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Ticket prices start at just $12 for adults and $5 for youth 12-and-under.
