After a two-week break, the Eagles competed against SMU and Alabama on the Black Warrior River
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing squad was unable to pick up a victory on the Black Warrior River Saturday, April 5.
The Eagles took on both Alabama and SMU on the water, coming away with a third-place finish in the Varsity 8+ with a time of 8:03.30. The Green and White was unable to keep pace in the Second Varsity 8 race, finishing almost an entire minute behind the Mustang 2V8 boat with a time of 8:47.70, while the Varsity 4+ team came in at 9:48.90 for a fifth-place spot.
The Novice 8 struggled to keep pace with SMU and Alabama took first and second, repectively, and EMU crossed the line at 9:00.80.
"No wins for us today. We had some good chances but lac of water time this spring has left us rusty, said Head Coach Brad Holdren, " We will be getting faster each week and the lessons we learned this week will help us at conference championship time in May."
Eastern Michigan rowing will be back in action Saturday, April 12 when it heads to Spring Lake, Mich. for the Lubbers Cup.
