Quartet of Sprinters Competes at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa/HILLSDALE, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)—Eastern Michigan University's women's track and field team completed its third day of competition of a four-day slate with athletes performing at both the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Hillsdale Gina Relays in Hillsdale, Mich., April 25.
At the Drake Relays, the Eagles competed in three events on the track. The quartet of Danielle Clark (Paramaribo, Suriname-Ewald P Meyer Lyceum), Iesha Hardiman (Santa Clara, Calif.-Adrian Wilcox), Aaliyah McKinney (South Bend, Ind.-John Adams), and Morgan Yeadon (Indianapolis, Ind.-Pike) teamed up on two occasions to compete in the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. The team finished the 4x100m in 47.06 seconds, taking 15th, and later finished the 4x400m in 3:42.75 for 17th. McKinney also competed in a solo event, clocking a time of 12.05 seconds in the 100m dash to claim the 18th spot in the preliminary heat.
The majority of the day's action took place at the Hillsdale Gina Relays with six events on the track and one on the field. In the lone field event, Tiara Oates (Rochester, Mich.-Stoney Creek) paced the Eagles with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, notching a mark of 5.48 meters/17 feet 11.75-inches. Also landing in the top-10 was Janina Pollatz (Grandville, Mich.-Grand Rapids Christian) at 5.41 meters/17 feet 9.00-inches.
Agata Klimovich (Minsk, Belarus-Minsk School of Olympic Reserve) recorded the highest finish of the day for the Green and White after finishing runner-up in the 400m dash in 58.45 seconds. Klimovich also competed in the 200m dash, in which she took 17th behind teammate Tericka Threatt (Missouri City, Texas-Dulles)'s 26.12-second finish. Threatt also represented the squad in the 100m dash, taking 13th in a personal record 12.62 seconds.
Freshman Kristina Coyne (Pittsburgh, Pa.-Chartiers Valley) found success in her first collegiate attempt at the 100m hurdles, claiming fourth in 15.05 seconds. The final top-10 finish of the day came by way of Rebecca Quaintance (White Lake, Mich.-Walled Lake Northern) in the 800m run, whose 2:18.72 mark earned her seventh in the race.
Two Spanish products competed in a pair of championship heats on the track to wrap up the day. In the 1500m run, Marina Manjon-Rivadulla (Barcelona, Spain-Escola University) took 14th after notching her second personal-best in two weeks with a mark of 4:35.12, while Anna Quilez-Ribera (Girona, Spain-University of Girona) placed 11th in the 3000m steeplechase in 11:12.16 and continues to improve in the event after recording a personal record in every meet of the season thus far.
The Eagles will conclude their weekend with appearances at both the Drake Relays and the Hillsdale Gina Relays tomorrow, April 26. Action will start in Des Moines with the hammer throw at 9 a.m. CT, and live results will be available through deltatiming.com.
