YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - After completing a clean sweep in its first two Mid-American Conference dual matches, the Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team will host a pair of MAC opponents this weekend at the Chippewa Club. The Eagles will first take on Western Michigan University Friday, March 28, before welcoming Bowling Green State University Saturday, March 29.
Eastern (9-6, 2-0 MAC) will first meet up with the Broncos Friday afternoon. WMU comes into the match boasting an 11-6 record overall, but fell to Bowling Green, 4-3, on the road, and is 0-1 in MAC matches. Eastern and Western come into the match having squared off with three common opponents; Butler, Michigan State and Oakland. Each team went 2-1 in those matches as both fell to MSU. Overall, the Broncos hold a tight grip on the all-times series between the two schools as EMU has won just eight of 44 matches. The Green and White has not won a dual match versus Western Michigan since April 24, 2004, over which the Eagles have seen 11 losses in a row.
However, the series with Bowling Green (6-4, 1-0 MAC) is another story for Eastern Michigan. The Eagles hold a 28-12 edge over the Falcons and look to win their second straight versus BGSU on Saturday at 1 p.m. Over the last 10 seasons, EMU has gone 9-4 in matches with the Falcons. However, Bowling Green has sent Eastern packing in the MAC Championships on a pair of occasions over that span.
