YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) —
First-year Head Football Coach Chris Creighton came into Eastern Michigan University with the goal to "close the gap," and has been doing so in his first 100 days coaching the Eagles.  Creighton, along with the rest of his staff, has already set high standards for the Green and White going into the 2014 campaign.

"We have program goals that we'll passionately pursue, in season and out," Creighton explained enthusiastically.  "The first is education, the second is being our best, the third being a family, the fourth is having fun, and the fifth is being impact men.  In the three short months, I feel as though we've got some great concrete examples of those transpiring.  Our guys are training at six o'clock in the morning, busting it and setting personal records.  That's being our best; that's going after being our best."

Creighton has established a program that not only demands excellence in athleticism but also character.  The Eagles, under the careful instruction of first-year Director of Sports Performance Ron McKeefery, broke an astounding 449 personal records at the end of their seven-week segment of winter condition after setting out to bust open 400 PRs during their max-out week.

In addition to their conditioning, the members of the team have participated in a variety of community events, such as reading to elementary school students, visiting local VA clinics, and braving the freezing temperatures at the 2014 Ford Lake Frozen Leap for nonprofit fundraising.  As Creighton commented, "We want our program to positively and significantly impact our guys' lives. That's why we do things outside of football."

At the end of his first 100 days with the football team, Coach Creighton is more ambitious and motivated than ever.  "We're on track, we're getting better, we're closing the gap.  And it's fun.  It's fun because their attitudes and their mindsets are awesome.  We've got great guys in our program, and I'm just excited about all of us realizing our potential."
