Rowing Unable to Keep Pace At Clemson

Eastern will take a week-long break before heading to Oak Ridge, Tenn. for the Oak Ridge Sprints
CLEMSON, S.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University rowing team fell in three races to the Clemson University Tigers on Lake Hartwell Saturday, March 1.
The Eagles kicked off their season sending two boats in the varsity eight race. The Green and White hung with Clemson for a short time before the Tigers' 1V8 team pulled out ahead to take the victory, crossing the line at 6:55.50 followed by the 2V8 team at 7:08.52. EMU's varsity eight squad consisting of Sarah Hillegonds, Ashley Gillmore, Steph Schlosser, KC Anderson, Lyndsey Tollas, Caitlyn Maguire, Liz Caudill, Sidney Doss and Krista Burdick came across the finish line at 7:32.95, while the second varsity team came in at 8:25.08.
Eastern was unable to keep pace with Clemson in the varsity 4's as the Tigers' 2V4 team pulled a surprising upset over the 1V4 team, coming in at 7:49.32, while the Eagles were almost a full two minutes behind the leader, finishing at 9:40.62.
The novice eight team saw some new faces from the fall rowing roster with the boat holding Alexis Tamas, Lilah McAllister, Taylor Mitchell, Emma Whitmyer, Tori Macneil, Chidimma Ocoroh, Easton Preston, Johnna Thompson and Rachel Dudzik. In its first race of the season, the novice team crossed the line at 9:29.93 coming in third-place behind the Clemson boats.
