Rookie trio has strong showing at Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)—The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming team wrapped up its final preparation meet before the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships with the second day of the Ohio State University Winter Invitational, Feb. 9.
The small group of Eagles competed in four events in the evening's finals round. Sarah Cameron (Brownstone, Mich.-Carlson) notched the highest finish, as the freshman took second in the 200 breast. Her time of 2:20.01 was just .13 seconds behind Penn State's Sarah Somers's winning finish. Emily Wimmer (Hammond, Ind.-Munster) took third in the event, and later swam a 26.17 in the 50 free.
Cameron went on to take fourth in the 200 IM, clocking a 2:12.11. The final Eagle to compete was Abby Aumiller (Canton, Mich.-Salem), who took third in the 200 back with a 2:04.95 mark after touching in behind a pair of Penn State swimmers.
As the Eagles have completed their regular season, they will take a substantial break before returning to action, Feb. 27-Mar. 1, when the squad will travel to Geneva, Ohio for the 2014 MAC Championships.
