Devon Bronson named to Horizon Air Summer Series 2013 All-Series Second Team
League Release
ALAMEDA, Calif. (EMUEagles.com) -- Eastern Michigan University pitcher Devon Bronson (Southgate, Mich.-Anderson) capped off a stellar summer baseball season with the Neptune Beach Pearl by being named to the Horizon Air Summer Series All-Series Second Team for the 2013 summer campaign. His leader on the diamond, Pearl Manager Brant Cummings, was also named Manager of the Year, the league announced Aug. 15.
Pitching out on the west coast for the Pearl, Bronson was a HASS all-star, representing the league in the Far West League All-Star Game, July 30. During the season with Neptune Beach, the Southgate, Mich. native made 11 appearances, including three starts, posting a 1-2 record with a 2.33 ERA. Bronson tied for the team lead in strikeouts, punching out 29 batters while only registering 15 walks in 34.2 innings. Even though he gave up 17 runs during the season, only nine of them were earned runs. Bronson's victory as well as a successful save conversion helped the Pearl finish the series with a 13-14 record.
During his debut season at EMU, Bronson made 15 appearances in relief, tossing 18.1 innings with a 7.36 ERA. He finished the season with a 1-1 record, earning his first collegiate victory against Butler, March 17.
The Horizon Air Summer Series is a unique eleven-week long competition among elite college summer wood bat baseball clubs from the Western United States. Fulfilling a mission of keen competition, the Horizon Air Summer Series crosses collegiate league boundaries to form a "league of leagues."
