– Following a weather delay due to excessive rain and lightning, the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team wrapped up day two of the Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, May 10.  The Eagles ended the day crowning another individual champion while remaining in sixth place in the team standings with one day of competition remaining.

With 24.50 points, the Green and White have some ground to make up, chasing Kent State University who leads with 74 points. The University at Buffalo and the University of Akron follow the Golden Flashes with 53.50 and 50 points, respectively.

Eastern received its only points of the day from sophomore Victoria Voronko who won the 3,000-meter steeplechase. The school record-holder in the event, Voronko crossed the finish line ahead of the pack in 10:23.09, more than 12 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. The super sophomore not only won her first individual conference title, but she also became the first woman in EMU history to win a MAC Championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Voronko was also one of numerous Eagles to qualify for the final races, which will be conducted Saturday, May 11. The Stavropol, Russia native finished the 1,500-meter preliminary run in second place with a time of 4:33.52, while senior teammate Morgan Churchwell also qualified in 4:35.42.
