Four Eagles Named to the Academic All-MAC Team

Blassneck, Emig, Hulvey and Swartz each were distinguished for their academic and athletic prowess
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team earned four spots on the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team the league office announced today, April 16, as voted by the faculty athletic representatives from the MAC member institutions.
The Eagles were represented by a pair of seniors Wesley Blassneck and Briana Emig, redshirt-junior Danielle Hulvey and junior Jacquelyn Swartz. Emig was named 2013's Outstanding Senior at the 2013 MAC Championships, while Hulvey was this year's Outstanding Diver at the championships en route to her All-American Honorable Mention status in the one-meter dive. Swartz was named second-team All-MAC at the championships.
The 25 member team was highlighted was highlighted by Emig and Hulvey, along with honoree Bridgette Ruehl from Ball State, each of which represented the MAC at the 2013 NCAA Championships in March.
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award. Outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments for the current season are only considered.
