YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Dr. Derrick Gragg, Eastern Michigan University's Director of Athletics for the past seven years, has announced that he is leaving to become Vice President/Director of Athletics at Tulsa University in Tulsa, Okla.
"Dr. Gragg has had an outstanding impact at Eastern Michigan since arriving in 2006," said EMU President Susan Martin. "He has led student-athlete success on the playing field and in the classroom. In fact, the Fall 2012 cumulative GPA for all student-athletes was the department's highest ever at 3.201. This is a wonderful opportunity for Dr. Gragg and I wish him and his family nothing but the best in the future."
Under the leadership of Gragg, Eastern Michigan turned in extremely successful campaigns in each of his years at the helm. In total, EMU totaled 24 Mid-American Conference team championships, 32 MAC Coach of the Year Awards, 38 MAC Player of the Year honors and 164 individual MAC champions.
Gragg will be introduced to the Tulsa community during a news conference at 2 p.m. CT Friday, March 22, at the Donald W. Reynolds Center President's Suite.
