Jacobson Takes High Jump at Alex Wilson Invitational

The senior co-captain captures her fourth victory of the indoor season
RESULTS
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior and co-captain of the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team, Tatijana Jacobson, leaped 1.78 meters to take the high jump at the Alex Wilson Invitational, March 1-2. Jacobson nearly broke the meet record of 1.80 meters set back in 2003.
Alysha Newman and Vanessa Clerveaux also competed for the Green and White in the last chance to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., March 8-9.
Newman, the Mid-American Conference champion and EMU record holder in the pole vault, leaped 3.88 meters to finish in sixth place.
Another MAC champion, Clerveaux, ran 8.51 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish ninth in the preliminaries.
Jacobson and Newman are currently ranked in the top 16 which would qualify the two Eagles for the NCAA Championships. However, they will have to wait the weekend out to see if their marks will hold their qualifying positions.
