YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team will be sending three athletes to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in the 2013 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday-Saturday, March 21-23. Briana Emig will be the only swimmer competing, while Kelly Hendricks and Danielle Hulvey represent the Eagles on the diving boards.

Emig, who earned the 2013 Outstanding Senior Award at the Mid-American Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, will be competing in a pair of events, the 500-freestyle and 1,650-freestyle. The senior's best time in the 500 came at the MAC Championships when she set a new season standard for the conference with a 4:46.17. Emig also set the conference standard in the 1,650 back at the EMU Invitational, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, when she touched the wall in 16:09.94.

Hendricks, who was named second team All-MAC at the 2013 MAC Championships, after taking second in both the one- and three-meter dives. Following her performance at the MAC Championships, she finished in the top-10 in both the one- and three-meter dives at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in West Lafayette, Ind., including the top spot in the one-meter dive with a total score of 587.50.

Hulvey, named Most Outstanding Diver at the 2013 MAC Championships, will also be competing on the boards for EMU. Hulvey most recently took second in the one-meter dive at the 2013 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships and looks to make a splash in her junior campaign at the NCAA National Championships.

Competition begins Thursday morning at 11 a.m. with preliminary action. All three student-athletes will compete Thursday as Emig will be racing in the 500-freestyle, while the divers will compete in the one-meter dive. The finals rounds will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. On Friday, just Hendricks and Hulvey will be in action in the three-meter dive, while Emig will not see the water again until Saturday to compete in the 1,650-freestyle.
