Eagles help raise over $2,000 for breast cancer research as part of Wear Pink meet

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team raised over $2,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure as part of its "Wear Pink" initiative at the Eagle Invitational, March. 9. All four teams competing (EMU, the Air Force Academy, Kent State University and University of Alaska Anchorage) sported pink warm ups during the announcement of the lineups.

"Since the beginning of February, the Eagles have worked extremely hard raising money through the Susan G. Komen website," mentioned EMU Associate Head Coach Andrea Siik. "The team is glad to support such a great cause."

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure was founded in 1982 by Nancy G. Brinker, sister of Komen, in order to raise awareness and research to prevent breast cancer. The organization has invested nearly $2 billion towards breast cancer research since its inception.

The Eagles travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to battle Central Michigan University, Saturday March 16, at 2 p.m.
