NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT RELEASE PROCESS MOVES ONLINE
2/1/2013 12:13:00 PM | Compliance
NLI signees and member institutions will no longer use the paper form for NLI releases of already signed prospective student-athletes. A request for release from the NLI obligation must still be initiated by the NLI signee. It is then the institution's discretion to grant a release or not.
Now, to initiate an NLI release request, an NLI signee will go to the NLI website, www.national-letter.org, selecting "Release and Appeals." The link to the release request is available on the Release and Appeals page. NLI signees will enter the system with a secured user name and password, the same for entering their NCAA Eligibility Center account.
After logging in, NLI signees will complete the information needed to request the release. The release request is submitted to the director of athletics and compliance administrator with notification by email.
You can view the institution tutorial in the NLI Resources section located in the member institution portal. A tutorial for the NLI signee is also available on the NLI website in the same location as the release request link. Releases submitted prior to this online process will still be recorded through the hard copy workflow.
