EMU won five of the six singles matches
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team opened the home portion of the 2012-13 schedule Friday, Feb. 1, with a 5-2 victory over the University of Detroit Mercy. The non-conference match was played indoors at the Chippewa Racquet Club.
"We got a win today, but this wasn't our best performance," said Head Coach Ryan Ray. "We started out slow by losing the doubles again, so it's vital we correct our flaws in that area. I was happy to see that the times we were pushed in singles by Detroit, we for the most part responded to get back on top of them. We'll take the win, but we need to work on putting together a cleaner performance for the future."
With the victory Eastern Michigan improved to 3-4, while Detroit remains winless at 0-3.
The Eagles are back in action Sunday, Feb. 3, at DePaul University. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Chicago, Ill.
