YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team kept its record undefeated Saturday, Jan. 12, by topping Bowling Green State University, 166-128. The Eagles are now 5-0 overall in dual-meets and 3-0 in Mid-American Conference meets.
Briana Emig brought home three wins for EMU, first winning the 1,000-freestyle in 10:20.17. Emig saw wins in the 200-freestyle and the 500-freestyle. She completed the 200 in 1:52.84 and the 500 in 4:58.58.
The Eagles went 1-2-3 in the 1,000-freestyle. After Emig, Audra Burtch took second in 10:22.41, while Wesley Blassneck saw third in 10:29.83. Helena Tolic was able to complete the 100-backstroke in 58.66, good for second and Taylor Straub took third in 1:00.42.
Jessie Godlewski brought home a first place finish in the 200-butterfly by touching the wall in 2:05.15, while Jacquelyn Swartz earned third in 2:07.65. Mary Kate Maclean placed second in the 50-freestyle by touching the wall in 24.52. Godlewski was able to bring home a win in the 200-backstroke as well, taking the race in 2:05.07. Godlewski took first in the 200-individual medley, touching the wall in 2:08.35.
On the boards, the Eagles went 1-2-3-4 with Danielle Hulvey leading the way in the one-meter dive. Hulvey scored a 309.97, Kelly Hendricks took second with 306.98, Christina Nunez-Wood placed third with a 279.68 and Lauren Dark took fourth, scoring 273.07. Nunez-Wood won the three-meter dive with a 325.43 as well.
Monica Dorszewski saw a second place finish in the 200-breaststroke and Burtch took second in the 500-freestyle. Swartz and Meghan Richardson tool the 100-butterfly 1-2, with 56.88 and 57.63 finishes, respectively.
Eastern returns to the pool next weekend, Jan. 19, when they travel to Muncie, Ind. to take on Ball State University. The MAC dual-meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
