EMU's Davitaia Wins Singles Crown at Gopher Invitational

Doubles team of Toncheva and Supejova take second
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (EMUEagles.com) — Head Coach Ryan Ray's Eastern Michigan University women's tennis team closed out its action with a championship a second-place finish, two fourths and a fifth-place finish here Sunday, Sept. 16, in the final day of the three-day University of Minnesota Gopher Invitational. There were no team scores in the invitational.
In singles play EMU junior-college transfer Diana Davitaia defeated teammate Klara Supejova, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, in the championship round of the top singles division to win the title with Supejova settling for the runnerup spot.
The EMU doubles team of Mariya Toncheva and Supejova also made it to the championship match in the Gold Doubles Division and finished as the runnerup, falling to the Air Force Academy's duo of Hannah Dake and Melissa Cecil by an 8-3 count.
