EMU Announces 2012 Football Television Dates
6/7/2012 3:45:00 PM | Football, E-Gridiron Group
Eagles to make at least four appearances on the ESPN family of networks
The Eagles will open their 121st season on the gridiron at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, at Scheumann Stadium in Muncie, Ind. against Mid-American Conference foe Ball State University. The contest will be shown nationally on ESPN3. The Aug. 30 contest will be the 12th Mid-American Conference season-opening game in school history. The last MAC game to start the season was 2006 when EMU also made the trek to BSU.
EMU then returns to the friendly confines of Rynearson Stadium to host Illinois State University, Sept. 8, before making trips to Purdue, Sept. 15, and Michigan State, Sept. 22. The Purdue game will kick off at noon on the Big Ten Network, while the time for the MSU contest has yet to be announced.
A three-game home stand then awaits Head Coach Ron English's crew with games against Kent State University, Oct. 6, the University of Toledo, Oct. 13, and a non-conference affair with the Black Knights of Army, Oct. 20. The KSU contest will serve as EMU's annual Homecoming contest, while the EMU-Army game will be televised exclusively on ESPN3. In total, the Eagles make at least four appearances on the ESPN family of networks.
Eastern Michigan then returns to the road for cross-division contests at Bowling Green State University, Oct. 27, and a Thursday, Nov. 1, 6 p.m. battle at defending MAC East Division Champion Ohio University with a nationally televised contest on ESPNU. The EMU-BGSU game is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start and will be televised nationally on ESPN3 and also regionally on BCSN.
The Green and White then look to defend its 2011 Michigan MAC title with a Nov. 10 home game against Central Michigan University and a Nov. 17 road tilt at Western Michigan University. EMU then closes out the 2012 campaign by hosting Northern Illinois University, Nov. 23.
The regular season will conclude with the 15th MAC Football Championship game Friday, Nov. 30, at Ford Field in Detroit on ESPN2. This will mark the ninth MAC Football Championship game at Ford Field, home of the Detroit Lions, Super Bowl XL, and the 2009 NCAA Men's Final Four.
Football season tickets are on sale now for as low as $48, and can be purchased by calling the EMU Ticket Office at 734.487.2282. Fans are encouraged to visit EMUEagles.com for full season ticket pricing information.
