AVON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)--
The Eastern Michigan University baseball team gears up for a rematch with Central Michigan University for the right to advance to the semifinals of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Tournament Friday afternoon, May 25, at 12:30 p.m. The No. 6-seeded Eagles (25-30) have already downed the No. 3-seeded Chippewas (31-28), 4-3, in the opener, but must do so again to avoid being eliminated from competition.

Friday's pitching matchup features a pair of lefties in Collin Taylor (2-1) and Dietrich Enns (4-2). Taylor will make his second-career MAC Tournament start, having also done so in 2010. In 2012, Taylor has posted a 4.58 ERA over 19 appearances and three starts. He pitched a third of an inning against CMU, April 14, and gave up one hit.

Enns carries a 2.37 ERA and will be starting on the mound for a fourth time this year. He has one complete game to his credit in 2012 and converted the save in an 8-6 win over EMU, April 14. The Eagles returned the favor the following day by sacking Enns with the loss as Brent Ohrman hit a two-run, walk-off blast to earn EMU the series win.

In Wednesday's win, the Eagles used a combined 5-for-8 effort from Jamie Simpson and John Rubino along with two RBI from Tucker Rubino and Ohrman to edge the Chippewas. Alexander received unexpected contributions from the bottom two hitters in his order. Simpson went 3-for-4 with a trio of leadoff singles and came around to score every time he reached base. The three-hit effort tied his season high for knocks in a game. Rubino posted a 2-for-4 outing and scored a run.

Just as Rubino (John) and Simpson took care of the task of getting on base, Rubino (Tucker) and Ohrman provided the hitting to drive them in. Rubino (Tucker) went 0-for-2 but notched a pair of sacrifice flies. He also stole his fifth bag of the season. Ohrman went 1-for-4 with two RBI. Sam Ott provided the other EMU knock on a 1-for-4 afternoon.

After falling to the loser's bracket, the Chippewas ousted the No. 2 University of Toledo Rockets, 4-3, Thursday to stay alive in the tournament. Central's one through seven hitters accounted for all eight CMU hits and Nate Theunissen was 2-for-3. The Chippewas scored three runs in the first and allowed Toledo to tie the score before plating the winning run in the top of the ninth.

An Eastern Michigan victory would earn the squad a spot in the semifinals and a rematch with No. 7 Miami University, who sent the Eagles to their first loss of the tournament, 2-1, in extra innings. That contest would begin at 7:30 p.m. at All-Pro Freight Stadium.
