PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team completed the first day of the 2012 Penn Relays Thursday, April 26, showing great success at the world class meet.
The Eagles led things off with success in many of the field events at the Penn Relays as Tatijana Jacobson tied for eighth in the high jump with a 5-feet and 7.75-inch leap. Jacobson's jump is the third in the Eagles' history books, while it ranks second among Mid-American Conference competitors for the 2012 outdoor campaign. Lydia Gomez-Diaz threw a 190-feet and one-inch toss in the hammer throw to take the top-spot. Gomez-Diaz' throw was good for second-best in Eastern Michigan history, while it was also the best toss to this point in the 2012 season by any MAC athlete. Rosie White leapt 19-feet and 9.75-inches which earned her fourth place in the long jump. White's jump ranks as the best in the MAC this season, as well as the ninth best long jump in EMU history.
