Football Golf Outing Set for Saturday, June 9

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — The ninth annual E-Gridiron Group Golf Outing to support the Eastern Michigan University football team will be held Saturday, June 9, at Eagle Crest Golf Club here in Ypsilanti.
“Last year's golf outing was a tremendous success as we had another terrific turnout,” said fourth- year EMU Head Football Coach Ron English. “Thanks to everyone who came out. The Gridiron Group has some great additions planned for this year's outing and it is going to be bigger and better than last year's.”
The cost for this year's E-Gridiron Group Golf Outing is $150 for an individual golfer and $600 per foursome. In addition, a special rate of $100 is available for young EMU football alumni from the classes of 2007 through 2011. Tickets for the dinner only portion of the event are just $25.
Dinner will include many contests and prizes, and there will also be a raffle and a silent auction for various EMU memorabilia. Registration for the tournament begins at 9 a.m. followed by a shotgun start four person scramble format event at 10 a.m. The post-round reception and dinner starts at approximately 3 p.m. For more information on the event or to register for the outing/dinner, please contact EMU Director of Football Operations Jake Kirkendall at 734.487.3420.

The E-Gridiron Group was formed in the spring of 2006 with its early focus set on building a leadership level of fund-raising support for EMU football. During the past six years the E-Gridiron Group has helped to raise more than $750,000. This is the largest amount of actual gifts received to date for a non-facility related project by a single group in EMU Athletics history. Those contributions have helped provide the football program with numerous upgrades and is leveling the playing field not only within the Mid-American Conference, but also across the country.
Since its official beginning in 2006, the E-Gridiron Group has expanded its goals and objectives to include not only fund-raising, but developing a broader membership program targeted at former football players, which was expanded to all family and fans of EMU football in the summer of 2009.
