COLUMBUS, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)—
A five-run fourth inning touched off a string of seven unanswered runs for Ohio State University, who snapped Eastern Michigan University's two-game winning streak, 13-4, Tuesday evening, March 27. The Eagles took a 3-2 lead after three innings, but could not keep up with a Buckeyes' offense that amassed 14 hits.

Eastern Michigan (8-15; 2-1 MAC) fell behind, 2-0, after the first inning, but Tucker Rubino and Adam Dennison blasted back-to-back doubles to tie the score. Brent Ohrman then earned the Eagles their first and only lead of the night when he scored on a wild pitch in the third to make it 3-2.

The wheels then came off for the EMU pitching staff in the fourth inning, as the Buckeyes put five runs on the board in that frame and tacked on another six runs before the last pitch was thrown.

Brian Valente (0-3) was roughed up in four innings, surrendering seven earned runs on nine hits and walking one. Ben Dartnell and Taylor Dimmerling pitched two innings apiece. The two relievers combined for five strikeouts but gave up six runs.

Ben Magsig had another strong outing at the plate for the Eagles, going 3-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. The senior infielder now has five hits in his previous six official at bats. Rubino and Dennison each tallied an RBI on the evening.

The bottom four batters in the Buckeyes' batting order gave EMU pitchers fits all game, as they combined to hit 8-for-13 and five RBI. Hitting out of the nine hole, Aaron Gretz was 2-for-3 while batting in three runners. Patrick Porter, the eighth hitter, was 3-for-3 and drove in two.

Paul Guey (1-0) picked up his win of the season after tossing just one inning in relief of starter Greg Greve. Guey only faced three batters and retired them in order. Greve lasted four innings and gave up three earned runs.

EMU fell to 2-12 on the road this season.

The Eagles are back in action Wednesday afternoon, March 28, when they face the University of Michigan at Oestrike Stadium. First pitch is slated for 5 p.m. Be sure to catch all the action live and for free by clicking HERE.
