EAGLES FLY TO GREEN BAY FOR SEARS BRACKETBUSTER GAME: The 2011-12 Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will swing out of Mid-American Conference regular-season play for the final time this year with a trip to Green Bay, Wisc. to play the Green Bay Phoenix in a Sears BracketBuster game Saturday, Feb. 18. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. (2 p.m. Ypsilanti time) tipoff in Green Bay's Resch Center (9,729).
Eastern enters Saturday's game with an 11-15 overall record and a 6-6 MAC mark after suffering a 55-52 loss at Central Michigan Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Senior guard Darrell Lampley (Linden, N.J.-Linden-Lakeland C.C.) continues to lead the Eagles in scoring at 13.0 while junior forward Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid) is the top rebounder at 6.1 per game.
Green Bay, a member of the Horizon League, is currently 11-14 overall and 7-8 in league play after a 71-65 win over Youngstown State Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Center Alec Brown, a 7-foot-1 freshman center, is leading the Phoenix in both scoring and rebounding at 13.8 ppg and 7.7 rpg.
Eastern and Green Bay will be meeting for the 10th time and the Phoenix hold a 5-4 advantage in the series.
HOLDING THE LEAD: EMU remains on top of the Mid-American Conference West Division with a 6-6 league record.
CHECKING THE SERIES: Green Bay leads the series, 5-4. The last time EMU and Green Bay met was Dec. 14, 2005, at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisc. and the home team posted a 73-69 victory. Center John Bowler led the Eagles in that contest with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Green Bay was led by guard Ryan Evanochko with 25 points. The series games are listed below.

SIMPLY THE BEST: Two EMU players turned in personal bests in Saturday's, Feb. 11, win over Ohio. Senior guard Darrell Lampley (Linden, N.J.-Linden-Lakeland C.C.) dished out a career-best nine assists while junior guard Derek Thompson (Detroit, Mich.-Melvindale-SEMO) scored a season-high 23 points in just 18 minutes.
EAGLES MAKE NATIONAL NEWS: With the Eastern Michigan University men's and women's basketball teams sitting in first place in the Mid-American Conference West Division standings, the Eagles are in an elite category nationally.
Heading into Friday, Feb. 17, EMU was one of just five schools across the 32 Division I basketball conferences that have both first-place men's and women's teams. The schools include:
MAC West Division: Eastern Michigan
Southeastern: Kentucky
Sun Belt East: Middle Tennessee
Sun Belt West: UALR
Missouri Valley: Wichita State
Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Rob Murphy, the men (11-15, 6-6) took over sole possession of the MAC's West Division Saturday, Jan. 28, and have held on to that lofty spot since that time.
Meanwhile, Head Coach AnnMarie Gilbert's women's team remains in a tie with the University of Toledo for the MAC West lead. The Eagles are 18-7 overall and 10-2 in MAC play.
MILESTONES: Several EMU players have hit milestone or are very close after 25 games of the 2011-12 season.
Senior guard Antonio Green (Inkster, Mich.-Dearborn Heights Robichaud) has played in 118 games for the Eagles while earning 60 starts. He has scored 677 points to rank 63rd in the EMU record books and his 285 career rebounds is good for 65th and his 120 three-point field goals is good for 12th.
Junior forward Jamell Harris (Euclid, Ohio-Euclid) is 48th in career rebounds with 354 and his 129 career blocked shots is good for second, trailing only Theron Wilson (1992-96) who had 257 career swats.
Senior point guard Darrell Lampley (Linden, N.J.-Linden-Lakeland (Ohio) C.C.) is 83rd in scoring with 533 points and junior Derek Thompson (Detroit, Mich.-Melvindale-SEMO) is tied for 15th in three-point field goals with 94 career triples.
