Novak Named MAC Wrestler of the Week

Redshirt senior wins the award after finishing 5-0 in MAC matches
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com)— Eastern Michigan University redshirt senior Andrew Novak was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week Wednesday, Feb. 15, by the league office. Novak received the weekly award for the second time in his career.
Novak completed his perfect 5-0 Mid-American Conference season with a pin over Justin Farmer at 133 lbs. in a 31-7 triumph over Buffalo, Feb. 8. He helped the Eagles get off to a 9-0 lead after two matches over the Bulls, and was a key component of the Eagles' first 3-2 record in MAC competition since the 1990-91 season. Novak was the only Eagle wrestler to win all five matches against conference opponents this season.
The New Boston, Mich. native finished the regular season with a career-best 17-7 record including an impressive 11-3 mark in dual competition. He will be the EMU representative at 133 lbs. at the MAC Championships, March 4. It will be the second time in his career that he has competed at the tournament, with his last trip coming in 2008, when he finished in second place.
Novak joins Aaron Sulzer as the EMU recipients of the weekly honor this season.
