YPSILANTI, MIch. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team will travel to Syracuse, N.Y. to take on the No. 6/5-ranked Syracuse University Orange Monday, Dec. 3, at 7 p.m. This will be the second-straight season that the Eagles and Orange will square-off.

The perennial powerhouse Orange are ranked in the top-10, similar to last season's matchup when the Eagles fell at the Carrier Dome, 84-48, Nov. 29, 2011.

FINDING THE GAME AT HOME: The Eagles' matchup with Syracuse will be broadcast on WEMU (89.1 FM). Veteran play-by-play voice Chad Bush will be on the call.
    
However, the game will also air on ESPNU. Kevin Connors will serve as the play-by-play announcer, while former Syracuse assistant coach Tim Welsh (1988-91) will be alongside Connors as the color analyst, with Darren Chiappetta serving as ESPN's producer for the contest.

ALL-TIME VERSUS SYRACUSE: The Eagles and the Orange have met just twice prior to Monday's matchup. The last time EMU and Syracuse squared off was just last season, Nov. 29, 2011. Eastern dropped that game, 84-48, at the Carrier Dome.
    
Darrell Lampley led the Eagles in scoring with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting. He was the only Eagle to reach double digits. The Orange outscored Eastern Michigan, 30-12, in the paint and their bench outscored EMU by 36, 43-7.

THE 'CUSE CONNECTION: The EMU men's basketball team has strong ties to Syracuse University as there are multiple members of its team and coaching staff that have spent some time in Syracuse, N.Y. for one reason or another.
    
Head Coach Rob Murphy spent seven years prior to becoming the head man at EMU as an assistant under Jim Boeheim at SU. Also on the staff is Director of Player Development, Jake Presutti, who spent four years as a student-athlete on the men's basketball team at Syracuse.
    
Director of Basketball Operations, Victoria Sun, and Graduate Assistant, Matt Reynolds, each earned undergraduate degrees from Syracuse.  Both Sun and Reynolds served as managers for Jim Boeheim's teams while they were students at SU.
    
Da'Shonte Riley transferred from Syracuse to EMU after spending two seasons with the Orange. The Detroit, Mich. native played in 17 games and averaged 1.4 points and 1.5 rebounds as a freshman. He averaged 10.7 minutes a game during the NCAA Tournament, but had to sit out his sophomore campaign due to injury.

RILEY GETTING IT DONE: Junior Da'Shonte Riley pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds against the Crusaders of Madonna, Nov. 24. He currently leads the Eagles with 7.2 rebounds a game. The Detroit, Mich. native is also providing a force on the defensive end. Riley is posting two blocks per game, including notching a season-high five against Madonna.
    
Riley notched a career-high, second-best all-time in EMU laurels seven blocks against Buffalo, Jan. 24, 2012, last season.

75'S A HIGH: In Eastern's win over Madonna, Nov. 24, the Eagles scored 75 points, which is a high for the most points scored under a Rob Murphy coached team. The previous high was against Colgate, Dec. 1, 2011, when the Eagles scored 70 points in a 74-70 loss on the road.

FINDING .500: Eastern Michigan second year Head Coach Rob Murphy moved to a .500 winning percentage in his short career as a head coach for the first time since Dec. 8, 2011, after defeating Madonna University, 75-57, Nov. 24.

IN THE NATIONAL RANKS: As a team, the Eagles boast the eighth-best scoring defense in the country at 52.7 points per game this season. EMU is alsos tied for 24th in the NCAA in blocked shots per game (5.7).  Defensively, the Eagles hold their opponents to a 36.3 percent field goal percentage which is tied for 27th in the country.
    
Da'Shonte Riley is tied for 31st in the nation for blocked shots per game (2.5), while Derek Thompson's three three-point field goals per game ranks tied for 32nd in the country.
