Former EMU Football Player Jermaine Jenkins Passes Away

Earned four EMU football letters from 2006-09

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) — Jermaine Jenkins who earned four letters for the Eastern Michigan University football team from 2006-09, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, in Boynton Beach, Fla. He was 26-years-old.

A native of Saginaw, Mich., Jenkins graduated from Saginaw High School before joining the EMU football team in 2005.  He did not play as a freshman and then earned varsity letters from 2006-09 after playing in 43 games as a linebacker.

During his EMU career, Jenkins compiled 87 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss of 29 yards, had two sacks for 16 yards, recorded four fumble recoveries, had two interceptions to go along with four pass deflections. He was selected as a preseason honorable mention All-Mid-American Conference pick in Phil Steele's 2009 College Football Preview magazine.

Most recently, Jenkins was the offensive coordinator at Saint Andrews School in Boca Raton, Fla.

The funeral arrangements are still pending.
