OCCOQUAN, Va. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's rowing team came up with a strong effort here Sunday, Oct. 14, in the Occoquan Chase Regatta, their first action of the 2012-13 season.
The EMU varsity 8s finished 7th and 8th while the varsity 4s finished 14th and 18th out of 30 boats.
The best outing of the day for the Eagles may have been turned in by the Novice 4 team that was first in their event, topping the time by the varsity 4s in their particular event.
"That was great news by our younger rowers," EMU Head Coach Brad Holdren said. "That effort was also a big one for our program as it was the first time we have recorded a first at this regatta."
