— The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team upended visiting Wayne State this evening, Jan. 20, after capturing eight first-place finishes in the 13-event meet in a 134-104 victory at Jones Natatorium.

Briana Emig collected three first place finishes on the day. She was the top-time in the 1,000 Freestyle (10:21.82) and 500 Free (5:00.61) and also posted the program's ninth-fastest time in the 200 Freestyle event (1:51.67).

Jessie Godlewski also earned multiple first place finishes for the Eagles. She was the fastest performer in the 200 IM, completing the event in 2:07.12, and took first in the 200 Backstroke in 2:06.61. Teammates Jackie Swartz and Amanda Kiefer would finish runner-up in those respective events, as Swartz raced to a 2:08.08 time in the 200 IM and Kiefer finishing the 200 Back in 2:10.72.

Swartz would later pick up a first place finish in the 200 Butterfly event in 2:09.52. Meghan Richardson followed in second place, completing the distance in 2:10.24.

In the 100 Freestyle, Sara Ghaffari led the Eagles 2-3-4-5 attack with a 54.06 finish. Samantha Nameth finished third, while Alex Hofmann and Samantha Partridge placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Ghaffari was also runner-up in the 50 Freestyle, sprinting to a 24.90 finish, with Richardson placing fourth with a time of 25.29.

The Green and White dominated on the boards, taking the top-six finishes in the three-meter event and the top four on the one-meter boards.

Kelly Hendricks took first on the three-meter after recording the evening's top score of 336.45. Christina Nunez-Wood was runner up with 297.30 points, and Danielle Hulvey placed third with 290.17. Rounding out the top-six were Soquel Rey in fourth, Lauren Dark in fifth, and Melynee Saya in sixth.

Hulvey took the one-meter dive with her 290.55 points, while Hendricks placed second with 267.75. Rey would place third in the event and Dark closed out the top-four for the Eagles with a 252.45, fourth place finish.

The women will return to action tomorrow afternoon, Jan. 21 when they host Mid-American Conference opponent Akron at Jones Natatorium. The Eagles will dive into action at 1 p.m. with live results available on EMUEagles.com.
