Rachel Iaquaniello and Haley Stein Named Academic All-MAC

Two EMU student-athletes named to the 18-member team
	CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University volleyball's Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) and Haley Stein (Carleton, Mich.-Monroe St. Mary's Catholic Central) were named to the Academic All-MAC Team by the Mid-American Conference Thursday afternoon, Jan. 19.
	
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
	
A 2011 first team All-MAC selection selection, Iaquaniello led the Eagles with 468 kills and was second in the MAC in points per set at 4.39, ranking 63rd nationally. The junior advanced to third overall in EMU history with 1,395 career kills, while leading Eastern in aces with 34. The Plymouth, Mich. native picked up 323 digs, good for 2.74 per set and maintained a .968 reception percentage, making just 10 receiving errors in 313 attempts. Defensively, she totaled 30.0 blocks at the net, while notching 12 double-double performances and was in double-figures for kills in 29 of the Eagles' 31 matches.
	
Named the Most Valuable Player of the 2011 IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational, as well as being named to the Shamrock Invitational's All-Tournament team on Aug. 28, this is Iaquaniello's second time being named to the Academic All-MAC Team. She garnered both the MAC West Offensive Player of the Week and MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week awards in the 2011 campaign. Iaquaniello is an Exercise Science major who holds a 3.86 GPA.
	
A 2011 First-Team All-MAC selection and the 2011 MAC Defensive Player of the Year, Stein finished second in the EMU record books with 2,158 career digs. The senior amassed 645 digs (5.38 dps), good for 26th nationally and maintained a .955 reception percentage. The Carleton, Mich. native led the MAC with 5.54 digs per set in Mid-American Conference matches and notched double-figure digs in every MAC match this season with her season-high coming Oct. 28, against Northern Illinois, when she racked up 37. She also chipped in 25 aces for the Eagles in 2011.
	
Stein was named to a pair of All-Tournament teams this season: first at the Utah Invite and then at the Robert Morris Holiday Classic. The senior was named the MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, Sept. 26. This is her third straight year being named to the Academic All-MAC Team. Stein boasts a 3.75 GPA as a Psychology major.
	
Eastern's Kristen Baker (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor) was also named to the Academic All-MAC Honorable Mention team after posting a 3.75 GPA as a Physical Education major.
