Eagles Top Cincinnati, Drop Dual with Louisville This Afternoon

CINCINNATI, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's swimming and diving team upended the Bearcats of Cincinnati this afternoon, outscoring its host, 159-139, and later fell to Louisville, 217-82.

Briana Emig was the top finisher for EMU in the 1,650 Freestyle. The junior raced to a 16:58.58 finish in the event, while Wesley Blassneck would touch the wall at 17:43.30 for a fourth place finish.

Emig would later go on to take second in the 500 free when she completed the distance in 4:58.91. Blassneck finished in sixth at 5:14.39.

In the 200 Free, Jessie Godlewski took fifth with her time of 1:54.45. Helena Tolic would post a seventh place finish for the Eagles, while Pauline Vigneron placed 10th.

Godlewski would also pick up top-five finishes in the 400 IM and 200 Backstroke. Her time of 2:07.69 in the 200 Back was good for fourth place, and her 4:31.61 performance in the 400 IM put her in fourth place.

Jackie Swartz performed well for the Green and White in the 200 Butterfly. She raced to a 2:06.27 finish, and later swam to a fifth-place, 57.84 time in the 100 fly. Meghan Richardson contributed with her fifth place, 2:11.35 effort in the 200 distance, and would place sixth in the 100 butterfly in 58.73.

The Eagles will return to action on Jan. 20, when the Green and White host Wayne State at Jones Natatorium. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
