Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) –
The Eastern Michigan University women's volleyball team won their fifth straight match on Saturday, Sept. 3, when they took down the Hatters of Stetson University in straight sets (25-13, 25-20, 25-16). The Eagles have not dropped a set in their last four matches and have won their last 14 sets.

EMU improved their record to 5-1 on the season with their win over Stetson. The Hatters fell to 0-2 after the loss.

Paige Roback (Maumee, Ohio-Notre Dame Academy) paced the Eagles offense with 11 kills in the match. Roback added seven digs and three blocks in the EMU win. Kristen Baker (Mentor, Ohio-Mentor) had a .625 attack percentage (10-0-16) with seven blocks. Rachel Iaquaniello (Plymouth, Mich.-Dearborn Divine Child) had a match-high .636 attack percentage (7-0-11). Ashley Mason (Eastlake, Ohio-Lake Catholic) had 35 assists in the Eagles win.

Roback and Baker led the offense in the opening frame, banging home four kills each to give the Eagles a quick 1-0 lead.

Iaquaniello stepped up in the second set with four kills and an .800 attack percentage (4-0-5) helping the Greeen and White to a two-set advantage.

It was Roback and Baker in the final set of the match that ran the offense with four kills each to give EMU the 3-0 edge.

The Green and White finish the weekend on Sunday, Sept. 4, when they take on IUPUI at 3 p.m. The Eagles have won five straight and look to make it six with a win over the Jaguars.
