EMU Wrestling Volunteers at Ypsi's SOS's Housing Crisis Center

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Supporting the community is something of a priority for Head Coach Derek DelPorto and the Eastern Michigan University wrestling team, doing so by helping out at the Ypsilanti SOS's Housing Crisis Center this past week.
This marked the second straight year that the team has spent part of its offseason helpin out the less fortunate at the housing crisis center in Ypsilanti. A total of 34 student-athletes volunteered their time to unload the Focus Hope food delivery truck that comes on the first Tuesday of the month from June-August.
Their duties included unloading trucks of food, bagging and separating the food into distribution amounts, organizing and shelving food for those in need, and contributing in the clean-up as well.
"We helped at SOS last summer and appreciated what they do there for the community so much that we wanted to help again,” DelPorto said. "We're looking forward to helping them every Tuesday for the rest of the summer.”
