White sets new conference mark on the season in long jump
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – On the final day of the Len Paddock Invitational at the University of Michigan, the Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team notched four wins out of the nine events in which the squad competed on Saturday, May 7, in Ann Arbor, Mich.
Rosie White had a career-day competing in her first long jump of the season. In winning the event, the third year sprinter/jumper shattered the current Mid-American Conference top mark of the season by leaping to a distance of 19-11.75, also a career-best for White. Her previous best of 19-04 came during the 2010 indoor MAC Championships. Her teammate Tiffani Long, a graduate student transfer from Maryland, finished fourth in the event.
In the 800-meter run, Beverly Elcock and Lauren Quaintance did what they have done so many times before in finishing first and second, respectively, as Elcock had her best time of the outdoor season with a mark of 2:08.22 and Quaintance finished next with a time of 2:14.76.
