Senior Robert Wendzicki is tabbed for his first MAC Pitcher of the Week honor after defeating Western Michigan last Saturday.

CLEVELAND (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior left-handed pitcher Robert Wendzicki (Brook Park, Ohio-Midpark) earned his first Mid-American Conference West Division Pitcher of the Week award after tossing his first career complete game victory over Western Michigan last Saturday, the league office announced, today, April 25.

Wendzicki's 4-2 victory in a complete game four-hitter marked his second complete game of the season, but first nine-inning effort and winning performance. The Brook Park, Ohio native allowed just two runs in the contest and struck out six while walking two and holding opponents to a slim .143 batting average en route to the victory. It was the third time he has eclipsed six or more strikeouts in a start this year, all coming in his last five outings.

The senior is 3-4 on the year with all of his wins coming in conference play. He also has a 3.44 ERA in league starts in his first season as the team's ace pitcher. He will make his next start against Ball State this Friday, April 29, as the Eagles host a three-game league series at Oestrike Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
