Annual EMU Wrestling Banquet Set for May 6

The EMU wrestling program will hand out awards as well as honor graduating seniors David Wade and Nick Hendrick.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University wrestling program is set to hold its annual year-end banquet Friday, May 6, inside the atrium of the Convocation Center. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the event set to begin at 7 p.m.
The Eagles completed the 2010-11 campaign with an even 11-11 mark as a team and qualified two wrestlers to the NCAA National Tournament for the second consecutive season. Senior heavyweight David Wade and sophomore 157-pounder Aaron Sulzer each advanced to Philadelphia where each lost their first two matches.
It was the first time EMU has had multiple qualifiers in consecutive years since the 1989-90 season when the team qualified more than one wrestler for the third consecutive year. Wade was only the sixth wrestler all-time to qualify for nationals more than once and only the second heavyweight at EMU to qualify in consecutive seasons after Rick Setzer did so in 1975-76 and 1976-77.
EMU will return all but two starters next season as they say goodbye to Wade and senior 165-pounder Nick Hendrick.
