Nikole Viltz Named MAC Gymnast of the Week

Hawthorn Woods, Ill. native earns the honor for the first time in her career
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) — Eastern Michigan University senior Nikole Viltz (Hawthorn Woods, Ill.-Carmel) was named the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week, the conference office announced Monday, Feb. 21. It marks the first time she has won the award in her career.
Viltz help lead the Eagles to a 191.500-188.175 victory over the Air Force Academy Saturday, Feb. 19, at Bowen Field House. She finished first on the vault recording a career best 9.875 and tied for the top spot on the balance beam posting a 9.550. Viltz also earned a 9.200 for her performance on the floor exercise.
The Eagles head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. Friday, Feb. 24, to take on the Chippewas of Central Michigan University. The first event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at McGuirk Arena. The Eagles will then travel to Colorado to meet back up with the Air Force Falcons, March 3 and 5 at Cadet Gym.
