Former Eagles, Families and Friends Enjoy Alumni Weekend

Fall schedule concludes with annual Green and White Series, Oct. 7-10

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)– The Eastern Michigan University baseball family welcomed numerous alumni back to Ypsilanti over the weekend, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, for the EMU Alumni Game and the annual golf outing.
The Alumni Game held Friday, Sept. 30, at Oestrike Stadium featured 29 former Eagles including father-son tandem Glenn and Jim Gulliver. Glenn was a member of the 1976 then-Hurons squad which fought to a second place finish in the 1976 NCAA College World Series. He also played two major league seasons (1982-83) with the Baltimore Orioles.
Jim was a member of the baseball team from 2004-2008 and was drafted 20th round (600th overall) of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft by the Detroit Tigers. He was the 20th EMU player the Tigers had drafted since 1969.
Ray Lezak, who donned the Green and White from 1948-1950, was also on hand Friday evening.
On Sunday, Oct. 2, 21 foursomes participated in the annual golf outing at Eagle Crest Golf Club. The winning group included current Eagles Neil Butara and Tucker Rubino who won the scramble with an impressive 13-under par 59.
Still on the agenda for the Eagles during the fall season is the Green and White Series Friday and Saturday, Oct. 7-8. Friday's game will start at 6 p.m. and Saturday's contest will begin at 11 a.m. If necessary, there will be a rubber match Monday, Oct. 10, at 3 p.m. at Oestrike Stadium.
