Goal in 38th minute is enough versus Huskies

DeKALB, Ill. (EMUEagles.com)— The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team rode a 38th-minute goal from Chelsea Detrick to a 1-0 victory Friday afternoon, Oct. 14, at Northern Illinois University. EMU won its second straight game as Detrick broke through for her first goal of the season.

The Eagles (2-10-2; 2-4-1 MAC) and Huskies (2-11-2; 1-6-0 MAC) combined for just 19 shots—seven on goal—in the contest, with Detrick firing two of the four EMU shots on goal.

The game was scoreless until the 38th minute, when Detrick one-timed a pass from Bianca Rossi and past NIU goalkeeper Amy Carr.

Eastern Michigan's defense was stingy the entire match and goalkeeper Maggie Manville was solid when needed, making three saves.

The Green and White stay on the road for a Sunday, Oct. 16, matchup with in-state rival Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
