STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (EMUEagles.com)
– The Eastern Michigan University women's track and field team had another record-setting outing Friday, Jan. 28, as the team competed at the Penn State National Invitational among more than 50 teams, including 10 nationally-ranked schools.

The distance medley relay quartet of Beverly Elcock, Naomi Andre, Lauren Quaintance and Courtney Calka finished second in the event after leading for the majority of the race, and broke an Eastern Michigan record in the process by posting a time of 11:33.26. The previous record, set by Gould, Keane-Dawes, Thompson, Mwei in 2000, was 11:36.88.

Sophomore Ashlee Abraham also continued to cement her name into the national platform as the sprinter took fourth-place in the 60-meter dash in a field of nearly 40 runners. Her semi-finals time of 7.41 seconds tied a personal-best, while her 7.42 finals time was the second-best college time in the race recorded by a college runner. (The first and third place finishers were unattached runners.)

Tiffany Kincaid and Rachel Quaintance finished 11th and 13th, respectively in the 5,000-meter run, while Rosie White had a long mark of 18-03.75 for 14th-place, and Tiffani Long hit a distance of 17-11.75 in the event for 17th. More than 30 athletes competed in the event.

Other Eagle finishes included Angela Scarber's 16th-place weight throw (51-07.00) and freshman Kate Wolanin's 11th-place pentathlon finish.

Day two of the Penn State Invite picks up Saturday, Jan. 29.
